With Intelligence warning dreaded Terrorist, Yasin Bhaktkal conspiring to escape for Cherlapally jail, the central prison of Telangana is once again under scanner. There are several allegations in the past that the jail is increasingly becoming friendly for inmates as the officials are providing them with mobile phones. It is even said some criminals even resort to settlements from within the jails itself.

In the awake of latest warning from IB, officials are finally considering installation of CCTVs at the barracks to avoid any untoward incident. Currently, CCTVs are installed at the entrance of Cherlapally jail to monitor people entering the premises but the internal security is taken up by security guards without the aid of any electronic surveillance.
The prison authorities are planning to install CCTVs inside the barracks. They have also requested the government to sanction funds for installing security gadgets like luggage scanners, internal CCTVs or door frame metal detectors to scan people entering the jail. As of now, 12 alleged ISI activists are lodged in Cherlapalli jail.
