In the case of social welfare schools, having a hostel facility, the govt shall not reopen them until further orders. The Government has decided to start physical classes from KG to PG. It has also decided to cancel online classes making physical attendance mandatory.
That has pushed the parents (especially those of small children) into a dilemma. The High Court has made it clear that online and direct teaching can be decided by educational institutions in consultation with the parents. The Department of Education has been instructed to issue guidelines within a week to schools conducting direct teaching.
The High Court also commented that there were conflicting advantages and disadvantages over physical classes. It has been opined that the intensity of COVID-19 is still going on and there are warnings of the third wave in September-October. At the same time, it has also been acknowledged that students will lose with no physical classes. The court was of the view that the state government should take both issues into consideration. The court adjourned the case till October 4.
