Finally Telangana government had its way even in the high court. Hyderabad high court today rejected the petitions of TDP, Congress and YSR Congress requesting action on the defected MLAs. The high court clarified that the rules do not permit the court to intervene when the issue is in the purview of the Speaker.

It finished the case instructing the Speaker to act fast on the disqualification petitions. With this clarification from the court, the defected MLAs will let out a breather. This will be particularly a big relief to TDP MLAs who are from the settler majority GHMC areas where the ruling party do not have the support to win the by-elections.
Telangana government is using an old trick employed by the then Chief Minister, YS Rajasekhar Reddy. the disqualification petitions are kept on hold by the Speaker until the government feels it right time to face the by-elections. This helplessness of the high court will further encourage defections.
