Hyderabad High Court today became serious on Telangana government trying to postpone GHMC elections. The government had requested 6 months time for conducting the elections for which the court is serious on the government’s delaying tactics.
“Will you conduct the elections? or should we intervene?” questioned the high court to Telangana’s Attorney General. The AG brought to the notice of the court that conducting GHMC elections is an issue of the state election commission. For which the court seriously replied, “So what? We will summon the Election Commission also if needed”.
The court finally posted the next hearing to Monday and also added that it will then decide if six months time is really necessary. The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti is traditionally very weak in GHMC area, the government is trying to delay the elections as much as possible.
