Hotels Crunch for AP Legislators!

Andhra Pradesh Assembly will sit for the budget session from tomorrow and this session assumes historical significance as it is the first session in the state after the bifurcation. According to the protocol, the government has to provide accommodation to all the members when the house is functioning but then there is no provision yet to provide accommodation in the New State.

And so, the state government had approved Rs 50,000 allowance to the members towards accommodation. But then Hotel woes have hit the MLAs big time as there is an acute shortage of vacant rooms in various hotels of Vijayawada. Most hotels are already over booked and the MLAs particularly coming from Uttarandhra and Rayalaseema are finding it tough.

Some of the MLAs are booking Private Guest Hoises. The Ministers, MLAs, MLCs have even booked some ordinary hotels for the accommodation to their helping staff. Government Guest Houses are of not much use due to the election code. Demand is also on the rise for the rented vehicles.
