
The Polling for MLC Elections in Andhra Pradesh concluded the other day. The Polling started very slow but later registered the Highest-ever numbers towards the end.
Graduates Seats – Godavari districts MLC and Krishna – Guntur MLC have registered over 70% Voting while Uttarandhra Teachers MLC clocked a whopping 92%.

TDP fielded candidates in the Graduates Seats while lent support to the Sitting MLC Pakalapati Raghu Varma. These elections are the first sign of the mood of the people after the Sensational Election Victory.
Even though the Opposition did not put candidates, it has supported the candidates opposite the TDP at the ground level.

There is so much chatter about the TDP cadre disappointed with the Government’s inaction on many things pertaining to the Red Book and so will stay away from the Election.
The agitation of the Group II candidates overs Mains Exam issue complicated things so much and then, the GV Reddy episode at the stroke of the election worried the TDP High Command a lot.

Chandrababu Naidu and Nara Lokesh also panicked and set separate war rooms to monitor the polling pattern. They constantly stayed in touch with the MLAs and local leaders in the districts and motivated them to increase the Polling Turnout.
As a result, the Polling increased in the last three hours.
TDP’s estimate is that the cadre who are reluctant and angry initially softened their stance at the last minute and participated in the Polling. So the leadership feels their candidates will scrap through at the end.
Graduates MLC elections have been always tough for the TDP but in the same election in 2023, TDP registered sensational victories marking the first comeback after the 2019 rout. And what happened in 2024 is history.
Alapati Raja is contesting from the Krishna – Guntur Graduates MLC elections. He is taking over PDF Veteran leader Lakshman Rao who is a five-time MLA. This will be a very interesting election.
Teachers MLC Elections are always between the Unions. But TDP increased stakes for the first time by supporting a candidate.
The counting will take place on March 3rd. It is a complex process counting the Votes in Preferential Order of the Voters. So it take lot of time to arrive at the final result. So the results are expected by the next day only.
