Huge Disaster and Learns Nothing

Hyderabad is on its feet last month after the second biggest ever rainfall hit the city. The entire state government and its machinery were under severe pressure as they struggled to cope up with the unexpected disaster. Finally, much to the relief of the government, the rain subsided. But then GHMC seem to have learnt no lessons.

The Corporation had started repairing roads in very few areas. They are yet to begin the repair works in several areas even after a week or so since the rains relented. Even at the places where the repairs are being done, the work is disappointing. The Corporation is just filling the potholes with the tar.

And previous experiences revealed that one more spell of rain will wash away the roads and the repaired patches. These temporary arrangements are just temporary and is more of an eyewash to the angry public and will not serve the actual purpose. But then this kind of response is not new to the city people. But the only worry is that things have not changed much even under the new state and new government.
