Hyderabad Police have come up with a ‘Tab’ idea to identify habitual traffic offenders and frequent drunk drivers. The currently used speed guns do not record the driving license details of the offenders which is becoming hindrance for keeping a check on serial offenders. So, Police are planning to use Android supported tablets. Police will be starting this from December.
125 tabs will be procured and be given to 38 traffic inspectors, 25 officers who perform duties on mobile cranes and the rest to sub-inspectors and other staff involved in the enforcement work. These tabs will be connected to the central server at the traffic control room with high speed internet connection. As soon as the pictures and videos are taken they will be uploaded to the central server. These pictures and videos will be used as evidences while imposing penalties. With the effective use of tabs and the Central government’s initiative to increase penalties as much as 15000-25000, cops expect traffic offenses to come down very rapidly.
