Indian Baba overtakes China in buying Red Sanders!

The precious Red Sandal wood is most sought by the Chinese than any one in the World. They even lined up to Andhra Pradesh to auction the rare wood but they are dominated by Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali. Ramdev’s Patanjali Yogpeeth, Hardwar, bought 706 tonnes of red sanders for Rs 207cr.

While the exact use of the prized wood is not known, Patanjali is said to be using it for some medicines and incense sticks.Of the three qualities of red sanders auctioned, the A grade fetches the highest price of Rs 1.75 crore per tonne, while grade B sells for Rs 1.5 crore. The final C grade bought by Ramdev went for about Rs 29 lakh per tonne.

A second round of auction is scheduled in May and the government is hopeful of selling another 3,500 tonnes through the global e-bidding. It is learnt that Patanjali will once again enter the bidding then also.
