Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy’s wife, popular philanthropist and author, Sudha Murthy, has been nominated to the Rajya Sabha by President Droupadi Murmu.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the news on X, on the occasion of International Women’s Day. “I am delighted that the President of India has nominated @SmtSudhaMurty Ji to the Rajya Sabha. Sudha Ji’s contributions to diverse fields including social work, philanthropy and education have been immense and inspiring,” wrote Modi.

He stated that Sudha’s presence in Rajya Sabha is a powerful testament to the country’s ‘Nari Shakti.’ He wished her a fruitful Parliamentary tenure.

Sudha Murthy currently heads the Murthy Trust. She has authored many books in her career and is known for her down-to-earth personality. 73-year-old Sudha Murthy was awarded the Padma Shri in 2006 and the Padma Bhushan award in 2023.
