Inside Story: How CBN pulled off the Hero deal?

Couple of months ago, enthusiastic Chandra Babu Naidu tweeted that he held talks with Pawan Munjal of Hero Motocorp about establishing the company’s South India’s plant in AP and is very hopeful of getting it. In less than 4 days, Hero Motocorp officials were surveying land in Telangana and sent feelers that they are almost in Telangana’s hands. Couple of days later they were in Karnataka’s Dharwada. But couple of months later signed an MOU with Andhra Pradesh and closed the deal. What happened behind the scenes? How Chandra Babu Naidu pulled off this spectacular deal? Here is the story revealed by a Minister in Chandra Babu’s cabinet.

“Chandra Babu was first to approach Hero Motocorp with a good proposal. The company people were inclined to us then but some how the details of the deal offered was leaked to the Telangana government and KCR sent a higher official to the company Delhi Headquarters with an even better deal. Later Sidda Ramaiah (Karnataka CM) adopted similar strategy and tried to take away the company. We (cabinet) were almost confirmed that both the Telugu governments played it in to the hands of the Karnataka government.

However behind the scenes Chandra Babu was doing some thing different. He sent a Senior IAS to the company with a fresh proposal. CM was working on the deal with utmost secrecy. He chose to work from his home after office hours with only 2 IAS officers knowing the complete details. No one including us (ministers) know that he is working on the project, forget about the deal details. Just a day before he revealed about the deal in cabinet, he sent the proposal files to the concerned ministers for their approvals and everything was sealed and closed by then leaving no chance to other states or any leaks. Finally the prestigious project is in AP but the only thing is we had to shell out extra benefits to the company due to the mad race between the states”.
