Internal Review: Jagan Surprised At TDP’s Performance in Tirupati

Tirupati By-election result has stirred a debate in the political circles. YSR Congress ended up with a majority of 2.7 Lakh which appears big but then, even those in power are not happy with the number, we are told.

The Ruling Party at least expected a 3.5 to 5 Lakh majority given the huge number of freebies they rolled out to the people in the last two years. Furthermore, the party went completely organized for this election mobilizing all the resources in the constituency.

The Volunteers system introduced by the Government went all out to do everything to ensure people vote for the YSR Congress candidate. A fear factor is created about the loss of welfare schemes. And then, we saw what exactly happened in Tirupati on the polling day in various media channels.

Considering all this, the Ruling Party leaders were confident of a minimum of Four Lakh majority. Furthermore, it is quite natural for the voters of the Opposition to be away from voting in the by-election but then, TDP vote share is decent enough to worry the YSR Congress. The ruling party also did not expect TDP leaders to be so enthusiastic on the polling day showcasing the fake voters to the World

Moreover, this is a seat from Rayalaseema where TDP has become weak surprisingly since the 2019 elections. The YSR Congress leadership is said to be very disappointed with this result in their internal meetings even though they are putting up a brave face before the public.
