International Experts Team Visits Polavaram

An international experts team surveyed the progress of Polavaram. They inspected the various constructions happening at the project.

The team will be giving suggestions and instructions to officials from water resources department and representatives of construction companies.

The international experts team along with PPA member secretary and Center’s Jal Sangh officials reviewed the on-going construction work. Project CE and MEIL COO explained the progress to them.

The experts team enquired about the diaphragm wall and upper cofferdam works. Meanwhile, the AP government wrote to the Krishna River Management Board saying it cannot attend the 3-member committee meeting that was to be held on Monday. It requested for the 3-member meeting to be held after May 10. It also requested that the Board meetings be held at Vijayawada henceforth.

About 72% of the project was completed during 2014 and 2015, while only 3.08% was completed between 2019-24. This led to the huge delay in meeting deadlines, according to AP CM Chandrababu Naidu. The Central government promised to give Rs 12,157 crore in the next two years for Polavaram.




The new diaphragm wall will be completed by March 26 and the entire Polavaram Irrigation Project will be complete by 2027.
