In politics, leaders often engage in Bhajana of their supremos to stay in favour. However, such attempts need caution. When taken too far, they often turn into easy troll material and defeat the original purpose.
YSR Congress spokesperson Nagarjuna Yadav recently faced this situation. In an effort to impress Jagan Mohan Reddy, he shared a collage comparing two leaders during air travel.
The collage showed Lal Bahadur Sastry and Jagan Mohan Reddy signing papers on a flight. Nagarjuna Yadav captioned the post by calling both leaders inspirational and drawing a direct comparison.
The tweet quickly went viral on social media. Netizens began trolling both Jagan and Nagarjuna Yadav for the comparison made in the image.
Response to the tweet showed widespread criticism. It was not limited to opponents, as several YSR Congress supporters also expressed displeasure over the post.
Many supporters felt the comparison was unnecessary and damaging. They said it provided fresh material for rivals to mock Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Social media users today react swiftly to anything seen as excessive. Even minor overstatements often invite sharp criticism and widespread online roasting.
Nagarjuna Yadav earlier held key roles within the party. He served as the official state spokesperson and chaired the Andhra Pradesh Eastern Water Infrastructure Development Corporation when YSR Congress was in power.
After the party’s defeat, he was appointed State President of the YSRCP Volunteer Wing. His political journey has remained closely tied to the party leadership.
Ahead of the 2024 elections, Jagan planned to field Nagarjuna Yadav from the Narasaraopet Lok Sabha seat. The move aimed to replace the sitting MP with a Backward Classes leader.
However, the plan was reportedly dropped following resistance from local MLAs. They allegedly viewed Nagarjuna Yadav as a lightweight candidate.
Instead, Anil Kumar Yadav from Nellore was brought to Narasaraopeta. The decision ended in a humiliating electoral defeat.
