Jagan Government Just Evaded A Big Embarrassment

The last week, Kurnool police have registered a case under non-bailable sections on Former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for making comments about ‘Kurnool COVID Strain’. A YSR Congress supporting lawyer has complained about it alleging that it is a conspiracy to stop Kurnool from becoming the judicial capital of Andhra Pradesh.

The police registered the case and a team from Kurnool left to Hyderabad to serve notices to Chandrababu at his Hyderabad residence. However, they came back mid-way without serving the notices. Legal experts say Jagan Government evaded a big embarrassment by taking a back step.

“The case barely has anything. Chandrababu Naidu said only those things which got immense coverage in the media. The court would have struck the case and reprimanded the police and government for being proactive in political vendetta,” they say.

“Moreover, a YSR Congress Minister, Sidiri Appalaraju made similar comments about Kurnool strain in an interview. TDP Kurnool leaders complained about the same in the same police station. The government was in a fix. They have to file a case on their own minister as well. If they did not do, the court will reprimand. So, it is a good decision not to serve notices to Chandrababu,” they add.
