Jagan Rubbishes His Own Logic!

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy Government hurriedly announced the reorganization of districts in the state. The existing thirteen districts will be carved into twenty-six and the Government has given one month’s time for any objections. The Government says that the easy accessibility of headquarters is the primary criteria for the new districts.

The close proximity of district headquarters will be helpful for the people with better and fast delivery of the services. But then, the logic falls flat when we consider the capital idea. Jagan Government is rooting Vishakapatnam as the Executive capital of Andhra Pradesh which is at the far end of the state.

For the people of Anantapur, Vishakapatnam is around 1,000 Kilometers away. The logic of ‘easy accessibility will be helpful for the people with better and fast delivery of the services’ does not apply in the case of the capital. Back then, the Government used to say Village and Ward Secretariats will make going to the capital redundant.

But that logic does not apply to the case of districts formation. That underlines the fact political needs of the ruling party are paramount.
