Jagan-Gali-Janardhan-ReddyTainted Mining Baron Gali Janardhan Reddy has approached the Supreme Court to allow iron ore mining in the Ballari reserve forest area.

The mining by Gali’s Obulapuram Mining Company was banned in 2010 over alleged violations, including encroachment of the forest land.

The Supreme Court will hear the matter on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Government had filed an affidavit saying that it has no objection if the mining is allowed in Anantapur.

Gali was arrested in 2011 by the CBI on charges of illegal mining. Gali was close to the then Chief Minister YS Rajashekar Reddy and allegedly got away with all violations using those contacts.

Gali is now trying to get back to mining; luckily for him, he has very favorable governments in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

Gali is currently on bail (ever since 2015) in the cases pending on him.
