While former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, J.Jayalalithaa is serving her sentence in jail, back home there are demonstrations, protests, human chain formations, besides an unprecedented number of posters with messages criticizing the judgment. Some of the leaders who wants to appease the party as well as the fans of Amma have been coming up with attention seeking posters with messages like “Can a mortal punish God”, “If you free her today, she will be the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister. If not, she will also become the Chief Minister of Karnataka”, “You keep Cauvery [waters] with you. Give me Amma (on a poster with crying baby)” etc.
While the drama is going on in Tamil Nadu, other states and visitors from other parts of the country are irked by the people’s senseless worshiping of a leader convicted for corruption charges. The other day, film industry biggies have sat for a fast and all the schools in the state will be closed on 7th of this month condemning the jail sentence. Interestingly all the people are knowingly or unknowing are doing the acts of contempt of the court.
