The campaign for the Jubilee Hills bypoll has ended. You’ll see candidates reaching out door to door and through media now, but they can’t use vehicles or loudspeakers. Voting happens on the 11th, and everyone is watching this closely.
This bypoll feels like a referendum on Revanth Reddy’s rule. It will show if BRS can still hold its ground. If Congress loses, many believe the party might replace Revanth Reddy as Chief Minister, which could trigger internal fights and shake the government.
If BRS loses, Revanth Reddy will likely push harder to weaken the party. That loss could drain its morale further. In this campaign, BRS appeared more energetic. KTR led from the front, managing everything from roadshows to pre-poll surveys.
Several surveys predicted a BRS win, and TV channels showed KTR’s roadshows more often than Congress events. This created buzz but also rumours about leadership changes within Congress. Still, BRS leaders were visibly active on the ground.
Congress, however, seemed divided. Senior leaders and ministers stayed away, leaving Revanth Reddy to handle it alone. Many suspect they want the Chief Minister’s post if he’s replaced after a poor result.
The media amplified a personal issue in Maganti Gopinath’s family, which Congress supporters used to corner the BRS candidate Maganti Sunitha. Voters will now decide how they see that controversy.
KCR’s absence was felt in the campaign, but KTR handled the urban constituency efficiently. As the Opposition, BRS had the advantage of attacking governance issues. KTR used visuals of HYDRAA in every roadshow, and the crowd responded well.
For the ruling Congress, there was little room to attack. This bypoll is about credibility and control. If BRS wins, all credit goes to K Taraka Ramarao. If Congress wins, the victory belongs to Revanth Reddy.
