BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has expressed his respect for Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu during an interview with a local television channel.
When reminded that he had urged people not to protest Chandrababu’s arrest in 2023, KTR said his comments were misunderstood at the time. The anchor noted that people later forgave him and continued to support BRS in Hyderabad.
Clarifying his stance, KTR said he had immense respect for Chandrababu Naidu and had personally spoken with Naidu and Nara Lokesh to clear any confusion. He explained that his earlier remarks were aimed at maintaining law and order in Telangana, as the matter involved the neighbouring state.
KTR acknowledged that emotions were running high during the arrest and that his statement had hurt several CBN supporters in Hyderabad, especially among IT employees who had protested the incident. The protests were later stopped by the BRS government to prevent tension.
The statement marks a change in tone from KTR, as he now highlights respect and political maturity in addressing one of the more sensitive moments between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh politics.
