The brutal murder of former minister YS Vivekananda Reddy is showing signs of becoming an election issue in Kadapa district.
TDP leaders in the district have reportedly proposed that Viveka’s wife, YS Saubhagyamma, be considered as a candidate for the Kadapa MP seat.
The proposal is said to have been taken into consideration by the TDP leadership.
The murder of Viveka, which occurred five years ago, remains a sensitive issue in the region. Viveka’s daughter, Dr. Sunitha, has been actively seeking justice for her father’s murder.
The case took a controversial turn when Jagan, who initially sought a CBI investigation, later withdrew the plea. Jagan’s brother, MP YS Avinash Reddy, is accused as the main perpetrator in the case, and his father, YS Bhaskara Reddy, has been arrested.
Dastagiri, an approver in the case, alleged that Viveka was killed to remove an obstacle in his bid for the Kadapa MP seat.
Recently, Sunitha appealed to the public not to vote for Jagan if justice is not served in her father’s murder case. In response to these developments, TDP leaders in Kadapa proposed Saubhagyamma as a candidate against Avinash Reddy.
While there was initial reluctance within the TDP leadership to intervene in the family dispute, the atmosphere appears to have changed after Sunitha’s public appeal. Saubhagyamma’s family’s response to the proposal is not known, and the TDP leadership is yet to express its official stance. The proposal is reportedly under examination, and the situation remains fluid.
