After eluding the police for many days, almost two months, Kakani Govardhan Reddy was arrested near Bengaluru.
This was reported yesterday. The latest in the case is that the police have presented Kakani in Venkatagiri Court today. He was brought amidst tight security from district police training college to the Court.
Kakani who has been absconding for 55 days, was caught by the police at a resort in a small village, near Bengaluru. Kakani is A4 in a case filed in Sri Pottisriramulu Nellore district Podakaluru village police station.
Kakani is wanted in illegal mining of quartz, illegal transportation of quartz, using explosives and deriding and threatening the girijans who tried to oppose him. After arresting him near Bengaluru, Kakani was brought to Nellore.
The police tracked his movements in Hyderabad and Chennai before catching him near Bengaluru. Notices were given once in Nellore and twice to his family members in Hyderabad.
The former minister had filed for anticipatory bail in High Court and the Supreme Court. But it was denied in both Courts. He had also filed a Special Leave Petition for protection from arrest. But the Apex Court dismissed the plea.
