BJP Member of Parliament from Mandi Kangana Ranaut has responded to AR Rahman’s remarks about losing work due to faith. In a secular country like India, the comments surprised many, especially given Rahman’s stature and long standing success in the industry.

Reactions have poured in from across political and social circles since AR Rahman made the statement. Kangana Ranaut later took to Instagram to share her perspective, focusing mainly on the claim that professional opportunities were affected by religious identity.

Kangana stated that despite facing prejudice in the film industry due to her support for the saffron party, she had not encountered a more biased individual. Her response centred on what she described as selective behaviour within the industry.

She recalled requesting AR Rahman to hear the narration of her film Emergency. According to Kangana, the composer declined to meet her and was unwilling to associate with the project, allegedly viewing it as a propaganda film.

The actor and politician further remarked that Emergency later received appreciation, including from opposition leaders, for its balanced and compassionate portrayal. She ended her statement with a sharp remark, accusing Rahman of acting out of deep rooted bias rather than fairness.
