Kavitha, who recently quit the BRS and is now active through Telangana Jagruthi, began her Janam Baata padayatra on Saturday. Over the next four months, she plans to tour all districts of Telangana and connect directly with people at the grassroots level.
Even as she launches her political campaign, Kavitha and her husband Anil are facing serious land-grabbing allegations. A group of residents met Malkajgiri MP Eatala Rajender and submitted documents accusing the couple of taking over government land worth thousands of crores.
The complaint claims that Kavitha and Anil grabbed 20 acres of IDPL land under survey number 2010/4 near Balanagar, within the Kukatpally MRO limits. The land, valued at around ₹2,000 crore, was allegedly acquired using overlapping survey numbers. The group also named AV Reddy, a close associate of CM Revanth Reddy, as being involved.
According to the complainants, the land is now registered under Anil’s name and construction of flats is underway. They say the property was originally meant for a school and hospital and allege that ownership changed after the Congress government took charge. Their appeals to HYDRAA, they claim, have gone unanswered.
However, another version of events suggests that Eatala’s supporters may have filed the representation on his behalf, since the land falls within his constituency. Eatala and Kavitha have often been vocal critics of each other.
With these allegations gaining traction, the land issue could turn into a major political challenge for Kavitha in the coming days.
