The arrest of KCR’s daughter Kavitha has come as a sudden jolt in Telugu Politics.
This development shell-shocks BRS which is reeling under the pressure of the recent defeat.
But then, this is an indication of how cut-throat politics have become under Narendra Modi and Amit Shah.
Kavitha’s arrest happened when the Prime Minister was holding a Roadshow in Malkajgiri, a few Kilometers away from Kavitha’s residence.
The BJP high command seems to have felt enough of this three-parties battle and decided to decimate the BRS. The Arrest of Kavitha is the first step in that direction.
KCR will be under tremendous pressure to bow down to the BJP in the upcoming Parliament elections. He should cooperate with the BJP to win majority seats by fielding weak candidates to suit the Saffron Party’s election strategy.
Incidentally, the same BJP sensed Congress’s victory in 2023 and pulled the plug on its campaign ( by replacing Bandi Sanjay). It helped the BRS to retain power instead of Congress winning Telangana. But failed to alter the public mandate.
After the election, Modi and Shah felt banking on the BRS was useless and so, are now in the process of eliminating the BRS so that the contest is only between Congress and the BJP.
It is always easy to knock out the opposition than tinkering with a people-elected Government.
KCR will have to spend the next five years facing Modi and Revanth Reddy. There are questions already about the party’s survival.
But then, KCR has been in this situation before the state formation and came out successfully. Let us see how he will handle it now!
