Reports are emerging that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao changed his mind on demolishing NTR Stadium. The government proposed a state-of-art cultural center, Telangana Kala Bharathi in this stadium. However this decision of the court drew flak with all quarters including the common people as they opposed depletion of play ground and green spaces.

Recently, Indira Park Walkers Association (IPWA) has filed a public interest litigation in the Hyderabad High Court urging the court to cancel the GO the TRS government issued for this purpose. In the wake of this, it is said that KCR government had backtracked from the idea and is now planning set up Kala Bharathi in the 24 acres land of DBR mills which is near to NTR Stadium.
The textile mill, located in the heart of the city and close to Tank Bund, had closed down for more than two decades ago, in 1992. However there are some disputes regarding the ownership of this land. We will have to wait for the official confirmation!
