With the nomination process complete, major political parties in Telangana have now shifted focus to campaigning. The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), which earlier held the Jubilee Hills constituency before the demise of Maganti Gopinath, is working hard to retain the seat.
Winning Jubilee Hills is crucial for BRS, as it reflects the party’s standing among the public and its future political strength. To secure an emotional connect, BRS announced Maganti Sunitha, the wife of the late Gopinath, as its candidate even before other parties revealed theirs.
On Tuesday, KCR handed over the B-form to Sunitha. The next day, she filed her nomination accompanied by BRS working president KTR. Since then, the party leadership and cadre have been fully focused on campaigning.
There’s growing buzz within BRS circles that KCR may personally canvass in Jubilee Hills. This would be his first political appearance since attending the Elkaturti Silver Jubilee celebrations of the party. Until now, KCR has been guiding campaign strategies from his Erravelli farmhouse, but party sources suggest he might soon step out to support Sunitha.
A massive roadshow is being planned by BRS in Jubilee Hills on October 19, and reports indicate that KCR is expected to take part. He is also said to have assured Sunitha that he would personally campaign for her.
If KCR joins the campaign, it will serve as a major morale boost for the BRS cadre. However, political observers are watching closely to see whether KCR truly ends his six-year gap from active public campaigning or leaves the final push to KTR and Harish Rao.
