Jaya Jaya He Telangana song penned by poet Dr Ande Sri was widely speculated to be Telangana’s official song before the state formation. However the Chief Minister’s Office is sitting on the proposal for the past five months. We are said that the Chief Minister indeed is not happy with song now. The original song talks about Telangana comprising of 10 districts but Telangana government is thinking on the lines to increase the number of districts to 24 soon.
Also Mr.Rao feels that the song lines expressing desire of Telangana becoming a separate state will be irrelevant now as the statehood has been achieved now. Mr Rao has asked the poet to come back with the changes in these lyrics. It is also said that he may defer the song till the division of districts is complete.
There are concerns that delaying the finalizing of the state song will make it impossible to print Jaya Jaya He Telangana song in new textbooks which will be supplied in the coming academic year. The current Telugu textbooks continue to have “Maa Telugu Talliki”, the official song of undivided AP.
