The other day, Andhrajyothy published a story about how the Government mortgaged the Velagapudi Secretariat to HDFC for a loan of 370 Crore Rupees.
After the News went viral, the Government‘s Official Factchecker said it was a Fake News and the Government would complain to the Press Trust of India about Andhrajyothy for spreading fake News.
But then, Kodali Nani exposed and shamed his Own Government. Nani released a Video Byte saying what is wrong in mortgaging the Secretariat to bring loans.
“It is quite common for Government to mortgage it’s assets to get loans. What is wrong in it? Does it belong to Chandrababu Naidu? At best, Secretariat is ten acres land costing 2 Crore per acre. At best it is a 20 Crore asset. Did Ambedkar write in the Constitution about what to and what not to mortgage?,” Nani questioned.
Secretariat is a Temple of Government Administration. If a Government even resorts to mortgaging it, it speaks very poorly about the state finances and it’s respect towards the System.
Nani not only reflected on the poor financial discipline and lack of respect towards institutions but also exposed the Government which lied through its Factchecker.
