Since the demand is low, the production is being kept low. When both these units operate at their full capacity, Andhra Pradesh will be able to supply power to agriculture also for 7 hours.
The government is also considering selling some power in open market or reducing outside purchases. These units run on 70% of domestic coal and 30% of foreign coal. The state government is planning to sign a pact with Singareni Colleries to supply coal for this project while Coal India is entrusted the task of handling foreign coal.
