BRS working president KTR addressed media saying their party succeeded as a responsible opposition party. He said his party leaders and cadre worked diligently and ensured that BRS gets good numbers, he said.
KTR clarified that since they were local elections, BRS campaigned at the local level without creating a big scene. He said we had a target of winning in 700-800 wards. We won with a clear majority in 15 municipalities. In another 37 municipalities, the situation is hung for now, said KTR.
In 2020, during municipal elections, BRS won 122, Congress won 4, BJP won 2 and MIM won 1, he said. In the present elections we got 30% vote share, said KTR. He said they will support CPI candidate in Kothagudem corporation. CPI has to work with us to expose the irregularities happening in Singareni Colleries.
Though the ruling party used all methods to win a huge majority, people showed they trust BRS and believe that it is the party that will take them forward, said KTR.
KTR said that if the CM has guts, he must go for bypolls in the 10 constituencies of defectors. The BRS working president said that it would have been a win for the Congress if it bagged 80-90% votes.
It is pretty obvious that BRS is happy with the results that their low-key campaigning secured for them. This shows that the party is trying to work at the grassroots level and penetrate rural and semi-urban areas where their actual vote bank lies. This strategy is bound to help them in Assembly elections, say political analysts.
