Several districts in Telangana are experiencing severe flooding, and the ruling Congress government appears ill-prepared to handle the relief operations. In response, BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) has instructed party members to step in and assist with relief efforts.
After assessing the ground situation on Wednesday evening, KTR held a teleconference with BRS MPs, MLAs, MLCs, district presidents, and senior leaders. He criticised the state government for its lack of urgency in scaling up rescue measures.
KTR noted that during the previous BRS government’s term, swift action was taken based on detailed weather department inputs. He highlighted their coordination with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF).
He remarked that the current government responds only when pressured. KTR called on BRS workers and representatives to unite and provide immediate relief, including food and water, to those affected by the floods.
He emphasised the need to focus on areas filled with mud and debris. He also directed the setup of health camps to offer basic medical care and urged sanitation drives to prevent disease outbreaks.
KTR further stressed the importance of publicising the party’s relief work to hold the Congress government accountable.
