
Arcelor Mittal Group executive chairman Lakshmi Mittal met CM Chandrababu at Davos. The meeting took place at the AP Lounge and was also attended by Arcelor Group CEO Aditya Mittal, IT and HR Minister Lokesh and Minister TG Bharat.
The leaders reviewed the progress of the Arcelor Nippon steel plant being developed in Anakapalli district. They discussed how the project was moving forward and what support was required from the Andhra Pradesh government.
In the first phase Arcelor Mittal is investing Rs 60000 crore to build the steel plant. CM Chandrababu examined the permissions required at different stages in the presence of Lakshmi Mittal.
The CM directed officials to complete land acquisition and clearances by February 15. It was also decided that a ground breaking ceremony would be held for the Arcelor Nippon Mittal Steel plant soon.
Chandrababu said the project must be completed at a fast pace and production should begin as early as possible. He assured the Mittals that there would be no red tape and issues would be escalated when needed.
The CM asked Lokesh and TG Bharat to travel to Delhi to seek approvals whenever required. Aditya Mittal said Lokesh had been proactive in pushing the steel plant forward during every stage.
CM Chandrababu also used the meeting to explain the progress of other development projects across Andhra Pradesh. He highlighted how the state was focusing on investment driven growth and large scale industrial expansion.
