Good That CBN & Pawan Kalyan Controlled Their Temptation!

NTV journalists arrest issue

The arrest of three NTV Journalists triggered a major sensation in Telangana politics on Bhogi Day. The issue quickly escalated into a political controversy.

The journalists were arrested for airing a Gossip Program alleging that some women IAS officers received favourable postings by offering sexual favours to Ministers. The program appeared to target a Cabinet Minister from Nalgonda.

After a day of intense developments, one journalist was released, while the other two were denied Remand by the Magistrate. They were later granted Bail in the early hours of today.

NTV has long been a vocal supporter of the BRS in Telangana. As a result, the party extended full support to the channel throughout the day.

The channel has also backed the YSR Congress in Andhra Pradesh. Consequently, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy entered the debate and posted a message on X in support of NTV.

NTV is the second most watched News Channel in Telugu. Its alignment towards the BRS and YSR Congress in the Telugu states is widely known.

In contrast, TV9 attempts to maintain some level of neutrality depending on changes in government. NTV, however, does not conceal its political leanings.

Political parties often feel tempted to support popular channels during controversies. They usually expect such support to be repaid in the future and avoid offending top channels despite knowing their affiliations.

However, Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan chose a different path. Much to the relief of their supporters, both leaders remained completely silent on the issue.

Beyond politics, many found it disturbing that parties openly supported a channel accused of airing gossips that tarnish the character of women IAS Officers. The issue raised serious ethical concerns.

Critics argue that such channels often escape accountability by invoking Freedom of Press. This, they say, allows character assassination under the guise of journalism.

There are also calls to question parties that speak about women empowerment while supporting such content. Many believe that if women in top positions like IAS officers are not protected, the safety of women in society at large remains at risk.
