Chandrababu, Lokesh Meet Lakshmi Mittal & Aditya Mittal at Davos

AP CM Chandrababu Naidu, HRD minister Lokesh along with minister T.G. Bharat met up with ArcelorMittal executive chairman Lakshmi Mittal and CEO Aditya Mittal at Davos.

The discussions focused mainly around investments in Andhra Pradesh by the Mittal Group. Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu used the opportunity to invite Mittal to set up a petrochemical hub in Bhavanapadu. He emphasized on the strategic need for such a project in the region.

The proposal for development of 83.3 million tonnes per annum capacity port and the presence of Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy in Vizag would help the development ecosystem said Babu.

Lokesh also proposed for a solar cell manufacturing plant in AP. The project estimated at a worth of Rs 3500 crore under HPCL-Mittal joint venture Green Energy Limited is in plans to establish a 2 GW solar cell manufacturing plant in India.

Lokesh had requested Mittal to consider Andhra Pradesh as a suitable place as it would create 2000 jobs.

The state government extended its full cooperation and commitment to the project as it aims to promote green energy and industrial growth in the state.

ArcelorMittal/ Nippon Steel had made a landmark investment of Rs 1.4 lakh crore for 17.8 million ton integrated steel project in Anakapalli.




The initiative stands as one of the largest greenfield projects in recent times.
