Land Hurdles Continue for Hyderabad Metro

Land Acquisition hurdles continue for Hyderabad Metro Rail Project even as the project deadlines have gone haywire. L&T, the concessionaire of the project still complains about the incomplete land acquisition. A total of 1,200 properties is still at different stages of acquisition.

Most of them about 850 are in Sultan Bazaar and 45 each in the three other corridors at Ameerpet, Jubilee Hills, and Secunderabad. Some of the property owners have approached the courts opposing the acquisition. Some properties acquisition was delayed as those losing properties earlier wanted alternative sites, now were preferring money.

The project is very much delayed due to government stalling the works for alignment change. But then no alignment is changed and all the time had gone waste. Earlier the government wanted to begin all the routes at the time, but now is considering launching the project corridor wise so as to make sure the people get a feeling the project is delayed.
