Liquor stores will remain closed for two days on the occasion of Bonalu, in Hyderabad city. The bar and wine shops will remain closed between 6 am on July 13 and 6 am on July 15.
The liquor shops in East, West and Central Hyderabad will remain closed. Shops under Gandhi Nagar in Central zone, Chilkalguda in East zone, Begumpet, Mahankali and Gopalapuram in North Hyderabad will be kept closed.
On the occasion of Sri Ujjaini Mahankali Bonalu, the shops under 11 police stations will be shut. A notification to this affect was issued by Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand to ensure peaceful Bonalu festivities.
However, Liquor will be allowed at star hotels and registered clubs during this time.
Sri Ujjaini Mahankali jatara or Bonalu is a huge festival in Secunderabad and surrounding areas. The police are expecting huge crowds, festivities and cultural activities.
Bonalu celebrated in the month of Aashadam involve participation of both women and men.
