Liquor woes : Forced Dry Days in AP & Telangana

The Liquor supply for the shops in both the Telugu States got suddenly stopped.This is on account of the Income Tax notices to the beverage corporations of both the state. The Income Tax department slapped notices on both the states to immediately pay 1500 Crore income tax.

As a result Beverages Corporation shut down 17 depots in Telangana and 22 depots in Andhra Pradesh. Both the states are planning to knock the door of courts in this aspect. This will be a huge problem for both the states which are already tangled in financial problems.

The stopping of liquor supply will lead to shortage of liquor in market which may lead to black marketing. Both the governments will also lose huge income in the form of excise duty which forms the substantial amount for both the treasuries.
