The temple of Lord Venkateswara in Tirumala is the richest in the country. But this does not seem to be enough for the trustees of this remarkable temple. From what we hear, the Tirumala Tirupati Devesthanams (TTD) has made the move to open a demat account to accept further donations, that too in the form of shares and securities.
Official sources explain that apart from cash and gold, devotees have been donating physical shares and securities at the temple for a while now. With the opening of the demat account, it gives these devotes a chance to transfer share online to the temple administration from any part in the world.
This kind of donation facility is certainly one of a kind for temples in India and likely to bring in further huge donations for the temple.
