The dispute within late Maganti Gopinath’s family continues to draw attention. On Thursday, his first wife Malini Devi, son Pradyumna Tarak, and mother Mahanandakumar appeared before the MRO office in Serilingampally.
Maganti’s youngest daughter Deeshira attended the inquiry with her advocate on behalf of her mother, Maganti Sunitha, who is busy canvassing for the Jubilee Hills bypoll. The ongoing family conflict has once again come into public focus.
The fight revolves around the Family Member Certificate. Revenue officials cancelled the certificate after a request from Gopinath’s first wife Malini Devi and son Pradyumna Tarak, which led to renewed tension between the two sides.
The MRO collected statements from all family members regarding the certificate issue. The controversy has also gained political weight with the bypoll nearing its final phase.
After Gopinath’s death, Maganti Sunitha was chosen to contest the Jubilee Hills bypoll as his successor. But as polling nears, Pradyumna Tarak claims his mother, Malini Devi, is the true successor since Gopinath never married Sunitha.
Neither Maganti Sunitha nor BRS leaders have made any public comment on the issue yet. The silence has left the matter open-ended as the election campaign continues.
