While many say ‘What’s in the name..?’, Telangana government says everything is in a name. Post the state bifurcation, the new state is busy erasing the ‘Andhra’ mark. On Monday, Telangana government changed the name Alimineti Madhava Reddy-Andhra Pradesh Academy of Rural Development (AMR-APARD) located at Rajendra Nagar as Telangana State Institute of Panchayat Raj and Rural Development (TSIPARD).
Alimineti Madhava Reddy is a TDP leader who was a minister killed in a land mine blast by the People’s War naxalites. The name of agriculture university was changed from Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University to Prof. Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University. Similar Sri Venkateshwara veterinary university is renamed as P.V. Narasimha Rao Telangana State Veterinary University.
Also numerous l institutions were renamed as “Telangana” in place of “Andhra Pradesh” after the state bifurcation. Telangana government confirms that all the changes of the names are in accordance with the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act.
