Mithun Reddy’s Bail: What Next In Liquor Case?

Mithun Reddy granted bail in AP Liquor Scam

Rajampet MP Mithun Reddy has secured bail in the Andhra Pradesh Liquor Scam case. He was lodged in Rajahmundry Central Jail for 71 days and will walk out tomorrow. Earlier, he got a five-day bail to cast his vote in the Vice-President election.

Mithun Reddy is listed as A-4 in the case. The ACB court granted conditional bail and directed him to provide two sureties of ₹2 lakh each. He must sign before authorities twice every week as part of the bail conditions.

The CID has already filed two charge sheets in this case. The SIT revealed that the main accused Raj Kasireddy, listed as A-1, collected ₹50–60 crore monthly. He reportedly passed it on to YSRCP MP Mithun Reddy (A-4), leader Vijayasai Reddy (A-5), and Govindappa Balaji (A-33), who handled financial matters of Jagan’s wife Bharathi.

Investigators say the funds were transferred to Jagan from time to time, and nearly ₹3,500 crore was siphoned off this way. Earlier, the ACB court granted regular bail to Dhanunjay Reddy (A-31), Krishnamohan Reddy (A-32), and Balaji Govindappa (A-33).

Among all accused, Mithun Reddy is seen as the most influential. Observers believe he will attempt to influence witnesses. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is named as the end-beneficiary, and investigators suggest it is only a matter of time before he is listed as an accused.

Interestingly, Jagan did not visit Mithun Reddy in jail, though he met other arrested leaders during this term. Despite Mithun being the son of Peddireddy Rama Chandra Reddy, a strong leader from Rayalaseema, the party did not stage protests over his arrest.

After his release, Mithun Reddy is expected to meet Jagan at Tadepalli, accompanied by his father, Peddireddy Rama Chandra Reddy.
