Five MLCs seats under MLAs Quota will be going to election very soon. The ruling Telugu Desam Party is confirmed to get three seats out of the total five. There is an intense competition for these berths from the leaders who worked for the party even in opposition.
It is said that Chandrababu Naidu had finalized candidates for two of the seats by now. Beda Ravichandra and VVV Chowdary are confirmed to get berths while the Chief Minister is still undecided about the third candidate.
Many are expecting the left over berth to be filled by a Minority leader as TDP do not have a minority MLA too. If Chandrababu gives it to some other, a Minority leader will be given a chance through Governor’s nominations. Governor will nominate two MLCs to the council on the recommendation of the government. Chandrababu to decrease the competion decided that the leaders who contested recent elections and lost will not be considered for the upcoming MLC vacancies as there are very few seats available.
