Modi to Hit Naidu’s Ambitious Amaravati?

Narendra Modi government seem to be making a roadblock to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s ambitious Amaravati Plan. The Central government had brought a Gazette notification which says that the aggregate acquisition of agricultural land for all projects in a district shall not be more than 5 percent of the net sown area in a district, determined for the relevant block of five years.

This will make things very difficult for state governments to acquire lands for the ambitious big projects. This will first hit the Amaravati Project which is spread over Krishna and Guntur districts. Since both the districts are multi-crop area districts, land acquisition will become tougher.

Andhra Pradesh is beginning the land acquisition of 2500 acres which were left over in Amaravati land collection. This issue is likely to flare up the differences further between TDP and BJP. This conditions will not be a problem for Andhra Pradesh as well but will be an issue for all the states particularly those dependent on agriculture.
