Munugode by-election is completed and TRS was able to steer to the victory with a margin of over 10,000 votes. The victory came as a huge relief for TRS because it kept BJP at bay.
At the same time, BJP is claiming moral victory because it has pushed Congress to the third position and gave a tough fight to TRS.
But both parties are wrong about their assessment in this election.
TRS sweated so much to win the election and fielded almost every minister and MLA to win. Both parties spent immensely.
TRS managed to steer to safety thanks to its natural advantage of being in power. If they estimate the situation is the same in the assembly election, they are completely wrong.
And in the case of BJP, the second position and increased vote share are more due to the candidate, Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy. It is not entirely the strength of the BJP.
The assessment would have been correct if the same result is achieved with the candidate of the 2018 elections. This kind of situation may help in a few seats. But it is not going to be easy in the assembly elections, especially in the case of South Telangana.
