Nagababu, a Jana Sena MLC, has declared himself to be a true Hindu. He shared a video message on his X account, stating that people change and their outlook also changes.
In the video, Nagababu said that he once claimed to be an athiest. He now describes himself as a “nikarsaina Hindu” or a true Hindu.
He stated that he believes in Adi Sankaracharyulu Advaitam and Ramana Maharshi’s philosophy of questioning oneself with “Who Am I”. He added that he believes in the formless higher self, also known as God.
Nagababu said that Hindu is not a religion or belief. According to him, it is a dharma, a way of life, and a geographical identity.
He further said that he is a proud Sanatana Hindu. He recalled speaking about temple priests receiving meager salaries when he got an opportunity to speak in the Council as an MLC.
Nagababu criticised YSR Congress Party for its silence on several incidents. He said the party did not respond when the chariot was burnt in Antarvedi.
He also stated that there was no response when Lord Rama’s head was cut off in Ramateertham. He added that the party did not tweet or congratulate the nation when Ram Mandir was inaugurated.
Nagababu remarked that YSRCP leaders show more interest in giving film reviews or discussing personal lives. He said this interest is not reflected in their commitment towards people.
He then spoke about YS Jagan Mohan Reddy cancelling his Tirupati visit. According to Nagababu, this was because he did not want to sign a declaration.
In contrast, Nagababu said Pawan Kalyan and his wife signed a declaration when they took their daughter to Tirumala. He also cited former President Abdul Kalam as an example.
Nagababu then addressed the TTD issue. He alleged that YSRCP distanced devotees from Lord Balaji.
He claimed that room rents in TTD guest houses were increased from Rs 500 to Rs 1000. He also said the TTD Common Good Fund was raised from Rs 2.5 crore to Rs 50 crore.
Questioning these changes, Nagababu asked who benefited from what he described as a mafia behind the fund increase.
