Akkineni Nagarjuna and his son Akkineni Naga Chaitanya appeared at the Manoranjan Court in Nampally over a defamation case against Endowments Minister Konda Surekha. The matter is linked to her controversial remarks about the divorce of Naga Chaitanya and actress Samantha.
In October 2024, Konda Surekha drew criticism when she connected KTR to the divorce of Samantha and Chaitanya. She further alleged phone-tapping and blackmail of Tollywood actors, sparking backlash from the film industry and political circles.
Nagarjuna called the statements false and harmful to the family’s reputation. He filed a petition in the special court at Nampally under Section 356 of the Indian Penal Code, seeking criminal action. The petition included video evidence and social media links of the remarks.
Nagarjuna clarified that Chaitanya and Samantha, who married in 2017, separated later by mutual consent due to personal reasons. Both have since concentrated on their careers. He maintained that the minister’s words were malicious and aimed at defaming the family.
The court is now reviewing the case and examining the submissions from Nagarjuna and Chaitanya. The proceedings continue, with the final outcome yet to be determined.
