After bringing Hero Motocorp Manufacturing Plant to Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu successfully brought in one more major company to the truncated state. Kribhco (Krishak Bharati Cooperative Limited) had come up with a proposal to set up the long pending fertilizer plant in Nellore district way back in 2012. But the then Congress government did not care enough to issue them the required land and the project is delayed until now.
Chandrababu has taken special care on the project and cleared all the issues to start works for the fertilizer plant in Sarvepalli industrial park in Nellore district. Kribhco will be investing about Rs 2,000 crore in two phases in the ammonia complex fertilizer unit. The unit will be producing about 1,600 tonnes of fertilizer per day in the first phase and will generate about 300 to 400 jobs through direct employment and several more jobs indirectly through packaging units and logistics.
The plant will start production in 24 months as the land is given to the company. The civil works of the plant will begin in the first quarter of 2015. Andhra Pradesh government also sanctioned land to UPI Polymers in the park which will establish an industrial unit to manufacture pipes, sprinkler and drip irrigation equipment. UPI Polymers will be investing about Rs 400 crore in its unit and generate a few hundred direct jobs and many more indirect ones.
