It is said that US will be signing an MOU of developing Ajmer, Allahabad and Vishakapatnam in to smart cities in this meeting. Obama and Naidu are expected to sign this MOU if at all it happens then.
On Friday evening, US officials Jamie Merriman, country manager, South and Southeast Asia Region, US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) and Mehnaz Ansari, USTDA representative for India, met AP government officials on Friday late evening and handed over a letter addressed to the CM from John McCaslin, senior commercial officer & minister counselor for commercial affairs, US Embassy, New Delhi expressing US willingness to develop Vishakapatnam as Smart City. The State government immediately sent in its approval.
US officials see Vizag as better placed compared to Ajmer and Allahabad to become the first and best choice to implement the project due to its geographical location advantage and its vantage point as a port city.
