AP to Have India’s Largest Central Library

Andhra Pradesh HRD Minister Nara Lokesh announced plans to build India’s largest central library in Amaravati. The project will span 2 lakh sq ft, offering world-class facilities and knowledge resources for students, researchers, and the public.

Alongside Amaravati’s central library, the government will build a 50,000 sq ft regional library at Jagadamba Center, Visakhapatnam. Additionally, Rs 87 lakh has been sanctioned for a modern library in Rajahmundry to improve learning access statewide.

Lokesh also highlighted inclusivity in education. Andhra Pradesh will establish 125 autism schools to support children with special needs. He stressed that libraries and learning centers foster equal opportunities while encouraging knowledge sharing in an increasingly digital world.

The minister underlined that in an AI-driven age, reading remains vital. Flipping through books, he said, is a bridge between past and future. The new projects aim to revive the culture of reading across Andhra Pradesh.
